WHAT IS RUBAROC?
Rubaroc is rubberized safety surfacing, which is applied to indoor and outdoor wet deck areas.
WHAT DOES RUBAROC CONSIST OF?
Rubaroc is small rubber granules mixed on site with a specially formulated resin, poured in place and trowelled to accommodate the surface substrate.
WHO USES RUBAROC SURFACING?
Rubaroc is used on any surface that needs a permanent, non-slip, resilient surface. Rubaroc creates a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing surface for any wet deck.
HOW IS RUBAROC SURFACING INSTALLED?
Certified, trained installers apply Rubaroc . There are usually two installers and one mixer on site depending on the size of the installation. The rubber granules arrive in bags and the resin in buckets. It is then mixed and trowelled on site to the specifications of the client.
HOW SOON CAN I WALK ON IT?
Rubaroc systems are usable after a 24 hour drying period in most conditions.
IS THE RUBBER SURFACING SLIPPERY WHEN WET?
Rubaroc is non-slip even when wet, just the same as the theory behind the rubber bath mat.
WHAT COLORS DOES IT COME IN?
Rubaroc has standard rubber surfacing colours for your convenience, however, custom mixes are also available.
HOW DOES IT HOLD UP AGAINST CAR FLUIDS?
Our rubber resists UV rays, gasoline, diesel, motor oil, transmission fluid, hydraulic fluid and other hostile materials.
WHAT SUB-BASE DOES RUBAROC COVER?
Rubaroc can be installed on most solid substrates such as concrete, tarmac, wood, aluminum and steel. It can also be installed on compacted crushed stone for creating Rubaroc swimming pool decks.
CAN RUBAROC BE USED BOTH INDOORS AND OUTDOORS?
Rubaroc rubber safety surfacing is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.
HOW WILL WINTER AFFECT RUBAROC SURFACING?
Rubaroc systems have been proven to cope with the harshest environment including the scorching deserts of Arizona and the harsh winters of Canada.
DOES RUBAROC GET HOT IN THE HEAT?
It is cooler than concrete and tarmac in the heat of summer because the pores trap moisture and create airflow that helps retain its low surface temperature. Because of the nature of rubber it does not absorb heat or cold like cement or rock products do.
WILL RUBAROC DELAMINATE IN THE FREEZE/THAW CYCLE?
Rubaroc rubber safety surfacing systems have been designed and thoroughly tested to remain stable in all weather conditions.
WILL THE COLOUR FADE?
Rubaroc rubber safety surfacing is UV stable and is highly used in Australia which is one of the harshest environments for ultra violet light.
IS RUBAROC TESTED?
Rubaroc has undergone many tests over the years including UV stability, critical fall heights, stain resistance and fungus & bacteria growth. Each test has passed with flying colours. All Rubaroc rubber surfacing materials have ISO 9002 certification and have been tested by the NSF (National Sanitation Foundation).
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE WATER THAT DRAINS THROUGH?
The water filters through to the sub-base and whatever direction it is sloped, the water will drain that way.
HOW DO I CLEAN RUBAROC SURFACING?
Rubber safety surfaces require regular cleaning. Pressure washing is the most commonly used procedure for cleaning rubber surfaces. Sometimes mild soap and water sprayed with the garden hose is all that is necessary. For stubborn stains, Rubaroc offers a product called RubaClean of which you can ask your distributor or installer for cleaning instructions.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE RUBBER SURFACE NEEDS REPAIR?
Because Rubaroc is a rubber-based material, cutting out the damaged area and re-pouring the safety rubber and resin mixture will make repairs to your surface easy, un-noticeable and aesthetically pleasing. A certified rubber safety surface installer usually performs this function. Repairs are un-noticeable with Rubaroc and the new material blends in with the original surface.
WHAT IS THE WARRANTY PERIOD?
Rubaroc Dealers offer a limited warranty on the product and installation, is up to them to specify the amount of time the installation/product is warranted till.
HOW DOES RUBAROC GET CLEANED WHEN APPLIED INDOORS?
This depends on the system. If it is our sealed system for food prep and organic materials areas you can use any type of conventional mop to clean the surface. With our porous surface for entry ways and locker rooms etc a steam cleaner is recommended.
HOW THICK IS THIS PRODUCT APPLIED TO CONCRETE? WILL IT STICK TO CONCRETE THAT HAD SEALER APPLIED?
Rubaroc is applied at a quarter inch thick. It will stick to most types of sealer such as epoxy and acrylic because our primer coat will make it re-activate and bond to the material.
CAN YOU INSTALL IT YOURSELF?
Rubaroc is not a DIY product as it is fairly systematic. However, if you decide to become an Authorized Rubaroc Dealer, we have extremely comprehensive training on the installation of the product.
